PDK Spotting Opportunity This Weekend

Fri Feb 18, 2005 6:52 am

There will be several warbirds and civilian aircraft this weekend at PDK for a reception for Pat Epps and Paul Tibbets birthdays. Mr. Epps will be 71 and General Tibbets will be 90.

Right now on the frontline below the restaurant are the newest, lowest time B-17 out there (complete with Aluminum Overcasts engine cowling doors), plus a T-6 and more are on the way.

One of the P-38 Greenland Ghosts will be flying in later today or early tomorrow, and there will be a Redtail Mustang plus a few other as yet unknown warbirds coming in.

The party will be private but the spotting will be terrific for local spotters.

This is PDK in Atlanta. Peachtree DeKalb Airport, the second busiest airport in Georgia, with over 600 movements per day.

No sweat..

There are going to be plenty of interesting aircraft with an excellent flypast photo op.
