Buenos Aires To Mar Del Plata

Sat Feb 19, 2005 10:19 am

Could someone provide info on what airlines may fly from Buenos Aires (Argentina) to Mar Del Plata (Arg). Expedia.com is not pulling up any info. Thanks in advance for any help.

Schiphol:

The main option and easily the most reliable is Aerolineas Argentinas/Austral http://www.aerolineas.com.ar, who operate mostly B737-200s on the route or very occasionally, an MD-80. It's a 40 minute flight, and typically costs US$100 return.

Alternatively, if you are feeling a little more adventurous, for a similar price you can fly on the military airline LADE http://www.lade.com.ar, on either an F27 or an F28. Schedules are prone to last minute changes (or even cancellations) however, so attractive though they may look, I'd recommend AR on balance, whose service is pretty good in any case.

Last year there were twice as many options, but Southern Winds pulled out and Aerovip folded...

TC-91 flies mostly charters, but if it is re-added to their winter schedules, I'll let you know. When used within Argentina, it generally serves FTE (El Calafate), RGL (Río Gallegos) and USH, but since there is only one in service as opposed to the usual 3 or 4, the chances of hitching a ride on it are greatly reduced...

P.S. TC-91 is young enough to be flying commercially--still shy of 30!

I ended up flying Aerolineas Argentina. Nice service for a short flight of 50 mins. I recommend Argentina and Mar Del Plata for everyone!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy Back in cold NY after a wonderful sun-filled warm week in Argentina.

JJ:

There are signs of life emerging from Rosario, apparently, but well, ver es creer as usual... Aerovip look like they are gone for good, along with the 200 jobs they provided. As for their aircraft, I have no idea how many if any have actually left the country, as 3 (LV-VEI, ZPZ and one other) had been partly disassembled for spares. The loss of Aerovip was anonther major blow to Argentina's stricken aviation sector, and such an unnecessary one...

Saludos,
