Delta Has Applied For Atlanta-Beijing Service?

Sun Feb 20, 2005 11:17 am

While reading up a bit on Delta's January numbers, I came across this application bid by Delta to start service to Beijing in March 2005. With the recent agreement with the Chinese government, they will allow another US carrier to start service to China in March 2005 and another carrier (either cargo or pax) in March 2006. Delta have said they will operate it using 777 aircraft from Atlanta. The other hot contenders for this route are Continental from Newark, American from Chicago and Hawaiian operating from San Diego via Honolulu.

Full details of Delta's application can be read here:

How much presence does Delta have in Asia? What are your thoughts on this route?

Also, all Delta fans can support Delta's application by writing a letter (already drafted) to the DOT here:

I'm all in favour of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with keyboards.
