Thanks for this post. Here people can see at a glance what the 380 really is. There are so many posts about it with a lot of half-truths.
Specially important is, that with its 20 wheels at the main gear, the stress of the runway won't be higher than of a 777. It is only 35% bigger than a 747. The difference between the 707/DC8 and the 747 35 years ago was perhaps 50%. Because there weren't any widebodies yet in these days, the challenge for the airports to handle the 747 was much bigger.

Maybe so, but it still won't stop the never-ending new A380 threads......  Insane with this thread just further adding to the band width.

You are right. Unfortunately many people prefer polemics and rumors instead of facts.
