No flight frequency reductions have been noted.

The only new route is Gatwick.

A number of dep/arr times have been shifted to Europe, due to adjustments required for Daylight Savings. Also, changes to LHR flights show that they all arrive/depart at the same times on different days (was sporadic before). FCO also gets the same dep/arr times for all evening/daytime flights. JED has been adjusted with 2 flights having long layovers and one returning within an hour or so (times have also been pushed for later departures).

I have been seeing changes/additions to the timetables throughout the last couple of days. I will post more if I come across any.

What equipment are they using on their flights to IAD? Where the stop is done?
Great to hear that Ethiopian is expanding- one of the best airlines in Africa!!!

Checo77 - Service is done with a 767-300 and it stops at EWR before IAD.

Just My 2 Cents

Thanks for the news ETStar!!
Have you heard about what happened to Brussels? I really thought it would have been included in the new summer schedule.

LXsaab2000,

Its a mix. Sometimes they stop at EWR and sometimes at FCO. I don't know why they do it that way.

Lindy, ET has dropped EWR, and all flights to IAD only stop at FCO. This has been going on since the end of October last year. There is word that they might resume services to NYC but none yet.

I also expected something along the lines of BRU but nothing. It looks like they want more frequencies to existing service instead of adding new locations and using up aircraft that could be used where the demand already exists. Speaking of BRU, the 75F is now dedicated for a daily service, with a leased DC8 plying the route twice a week: yes, total of 9 per week!

ETStar...can u plz tell me how ET are doing load-revenue and yield wise on the DEL-PEK-DEL route with 5th freedom rights? Is it a popular choice for pax between these 2 captials or is Thai via BKK, CX via HKG and China Southern/Eastern instead taken?

Is PEK service mainly for cargo? Last month I saw ET departing PEK and flight was practically empty with less than 50 passengers boarding the plane to Delhi on the way to ADD! And how many seats do they sell on Delhi - Beijing - Delhi sector or is Delhi there primarily as stop over to China? (other than Diplomats/Student traffic to Africa)

No idea about details related to load/rev/yields.

PEK service is pax service. Now I do not know how much is loaded in the belly, but they must be making some sort of $$ to add a third frequency. I also found CAN's increase equally interesting (if not more).

HELLO!!! Want even better news? I had not looked forward, but as of the middle of September, ET will go to Bangkok daily!! Yihhaa! And even more surprising, the seventh weekly flight goes on to CAN (Guangzhou), totalling the weekly frequency for this city to 4x!

Have any flights moved to day time departure from ADD. I guess they make all these changes in July because the 3rd and last brand new 763 will arrive in June. I believe a leased 737 is due to arrive in march and the last purchased 737 is also due to arrive in July. The 763 will be registered ET-ALP.....

Dkny, no flights have moved to daytime departure from ADD, which is cool. I also figured that this increase is due to the arrival of the last 763. I wonder, however, if ET will get additional aircraft towards the end of the year, that is, on lease, to fill in the gap when Hajj season returns. Has the D10 gone back? Also, what does the DC8 freighter do when not operating for ET? Does it always remain at ADD?

The D10 has gone back. The DC8 does the AMS runs, and I am sure it also operates the other destinations as well since the 75F is dedicated to BRU. I was also looking for BRU and at least YYZ in the summer time.

I also heard that they are looking for 763 on the lease market and they are looking into the possibilty of hiring non Ethiopian pilots since they can not keep up with their expansion with the pilots they now have.

ETStar,

I didn't know that they have dropped EWR connection. Past couple of months it seems that they are geting to IAD more often on time.

Saudi should take an example from ET and drop JFK connection  Smile You never know when Saudi will show up at IAD.

Yes, I have noticed that they have been coming into IAD on time. Obviously EWR was putting a strain on their ops. Their departure from EWR to IAD was dependent on customs as well, since pax had to deplane, get cleared and reboard. Waiting about two hours prior to hopping back on (after going through security once again) for a measely 45 minute flight is simply not worth it. ET has however indicated their intentions to return to NYC, but we shall see how they will go about doing it.
