GOL Orders Another 5 738

Tue Feb 22, 2005 10:13 pm

GOL has converted 5 Purchase rights for 738s to firm orders. This now takes their 738 firm orders to 26 from 21. The balance of their outstanding Purchase Rights should now be 37 including the 20 announced 2-3 weeks ago. Delivery is 2006 through 2009.

These guys are doing well as is the 73G line to start the year!

Regards

According to the WSJ, it is 20, not 5.

With respect, they are wrong. This is direct from the airline and they are conversions of existing Purchase Rights into 5 more firm orders. Read the numbers I quoted in my post and they are all correct as per regulatory filings by GOL with the relevent Financial regulators in Brasil. As I said, my source is the airline, oh, and Boeing.

Perhaps the 20 that the WSJ refers to are the extra 20 Purchase Rights that GOL committed to about 2 weeks ago.

PANAM_DC10:

Thanks for the breaking news!

I confirm that GOL will convert another five options into firm orders of the B737-800. As a result, GOL's firm orders of the 737-800 increases to 26. The planes will be delivered from 2005 to 2010.

Currently GOL has a fleet of 29 B737s. GOL operates 304 daily flights to 39 destinations and is one of the world's most profitable airlines.

Thanks Hardiwv

GOL are very clear with their orders. I would be interested to know how many 737NG they currently lease. Also, if they currently serve 39 destinations are they planning new routes for this year?

PANAM,

On the domestic market, GOL opens up new destinations every now and then. On the international routes, for this year are planned flights to Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia) before June/05. MVD and ASU are also in the plans, but no official date yet.

Good to see them making more of the orders firm, but I hope it doesn't continue like that (a press release every month or so), otherwise it will make these threads very boring and repetitive!

Good news nonetheless,

Quoting PANAM_DC10 (reply 4):

As mentioned, in the international market plans are for: VVI, MVD, ASU, SCL, CCS and MIA. The only confirmed destination is VVI, which will start in Jun/05.

Agree!

Brazil will have a new LCC airline (BRA), which will bring competition in the LCC market, especially for routes to Northeast Brazil.
