SQ operated VIE from around 1985 to 1998. They tried many routings (including transatlantic to YYZ) and even codeshared with OS for a while, but they always struggled with a combination of poor loads and low yields. The nail in the coffin was the Asian Financial Crisis and the subsequent troubles in Indonesia and other countries in Asia ... many travellers from Europe were frightened away by these problems.
Does KE plan to start passenger flights to VIE ? They already serve Vienna, but only with cargo-equipment. How about Asiana? Or what are the chances that a Japanese/Chinese carrier will add VIE to it's network
