NAA was thinking of adding some length to the northside of 34R-18L to make the runway approximately 2,500m, so the runway can handle all aircraft types instead of the current limit to 772/343. Not sure what the status is now.
The cross-wind runway building has been abandoned. From T1 directly south and slightly to the right is an existing dwelling between the taxiway and what should be the runway (tiny but there). Until that landowner leaves, the cross-wind runway cannot be operated. Meanwhile, on both sides aircraft taxi around the dwelling. Amazing!
With slots on the new runway quickly filling up, new entrant and existing carriers will have a hard time expanding from NRT
. Also aircraft stands are running out too. As anybody can see in the picture, there isn't any place open where additional stands can be built. Wrestling away additional land around the airport will be like pulling teeth. I would like to punch the idiot who thoughtout the design and location of this miserably designed airport. The roads in the airport are like spaghetti.
