U.S. PPL Obtaining U.K. PPL

Tue Mar 01, 2005 5:51 am

Just to state, this is my first post to the forums, and as such, I hope I have posted in the correct forum. In any case, my question below.

I have a PPL in the US. I have a little over 100 hours and am traveling to the U.K. soon. I have read on the CAA's website that a FAA licensed pilot can obtain a U.K. license just by taking a check-ride and providing proof of my current medical and pilot certificate here in the U.S. Is this all that is needed? Has anyone done something similar? What does it cost to rent a C172 in the U.K.?
