When Does NW Have A DTW-HNL Non-stop?

Wed Mar 02, 2005 1:00 pm

Can't find it in the schedules at all. I would like to fly through DTW because the CRJ sucks, and the MSP services have weird timings when connecting from SYR. If someone would please tell me when the non-stop operates (if at all anymore), I thank you in advance.

Happy flying everyone. A little bumpy and delayed through DTW today  Big grin.

The non-stop is not operating. You will have to fly through MSP or to go through DTW will have to fly through MSP, SFO or LAX

The DTW-HNL flight isn't even seasonal anymore...bummers.  Sad

It used to operate over the December Holiday period and then again from Mid-Feb-through April.

This year it only operated from Mid-Dec. through Early January.

If I'm not mistaken, service is only offered from MSP. I think they cancelled the DTW flight a while back.

LAX, SEA, PDX and SFO also get non-stops to HNL from NW. ANC also gets it on a seasonal basis

What was the load like on the OGG - HNL leg? For that matter, how about the to/from ANC legs?

what US carriers use the 747 from continental US to Hawaii, i was at LAX recently and saw a 747 heading westbound high over LAX and it could only be an airline heading to Hawaii, no carrier serves the sth pacific with a 747 from the east coast of the US, so i'd assume it was going to Hawaii, crossing over LAX at about 1700 local time.

No US carriers have scheduled 747 service to HNL anymore from the mainland. UA or NW might have used one as equipment sub on one of their flights, but that is pretty rare and usually mostly on UA flights from SFO.

ANC-OGG was about 80% and on HNL-ANC, every seat was taken.

On the OGG-HNL leg it was about half full, although NW runs two 753's OGG-HNL at the exact same time...one goes on to Anchorage and the other to Portland (flight 86). Quite a few ANC-bound passengers were on 86 to Honolulu, judging from the bag tags at the baggage claim in Anchorage.

Also, when I checked in for this flight I asked the agents if there was any chance this flight would come back next winter and they seemed to think so as according to them, bookings had been great. I definitely hope it does.

When did this flight start? It's very interesting to note.

It seems that NW is now doing a daily OGG-HNL-OGG flight that originates in SFO and terminates, as you state, in PDX.

The OGG-HNL flying ends with the current schedule on 4/3. It makes sense to me to use the airplane to go somewhere, instead of having it sit in HNL for 4+ hours. But it must be more economical to have it sit.

SFO-HNL-OGG-HNL-PDX ends 4/1
ANC-OGG-HNL-ANC ends 4/3

Is the PDX-HNL flight year round? As I've said before, I really hope the Anchorage flight becomes a seasonal staple for NW.

"No US carriers have scheduled 747 service to HNL anymore from the mainland."

No passenger flights, you mean.
