The 6 slots, (1 slot = 1 takeoff and 1 landing) available were sold to Virgin and to Qantas. Total price was somewhere in the region of £40million for all. Virgin got 4 slots and Qantas got 2 slots.
Since the exchange, Qantas have been using these slots to operate their subchartered Bae146 services LHRMAN in order to protect the slots. Virgin, in turn, have been doing the same by subletting the slots back to AF
(for whom Flybe operated) so that BritAir can operated LHRLYS.
Once more aircraft are ordered and both Qantas and Virgin amend their operations it is likely that both the LHRMAN and LHRLYS services will be discontinued and both VS
and Qantas will add more long-haul flights.
The slots were premium ones and hence their prices. 2 arrival slots at about 0800hrs at LHR
with depts at 0900hrs + midday and peak late afternoon business slots for the others.
Hope this helps to clarify things a little
