PTV's On AF 772?

Sun Mar 06, 2005 9:45 am

I am flying from IAD to CDG this March and was wondering if AF 777-200s have PTVs in every seat. I've looked for pictures and have seen that some of them have them and others don't. I was wondering if anyone has flown from IAD to CDG and knows if they do.

Almost all AF 772s have PTVs in the back of every seat. Hard to tell which a/c will be serving your route, as in most cases planes are assigned to routes the day or day before the actual flight.

Yes they do! Me and my girlfriend took AF flight 27 (IAD-CDG) on Jan. 6th and returned of AF 28 on the 12th of Jan. Not the greatest selection of videos, but it made the trip go by.

Yes they do, I have flown on Air Frances 7772 four times. You will get a choice of three or four movies, video games, music, and a map.I have to warn you that the IFE on those 7772s of AF is not always the best, usually has to be rebooted. Something that can help you in the future, do a photo search.

The seats also have a foot rest which is an added bonous, and makes your ride more comfier.

Not when you are 6ft 5in tall 300lbs, it gives your legs even less room to move in the already confined quarters! And then when the person in front of you decides to recline back onto your knees. mad  crowded

Wrong. Not "Almost".

ALL AF's B772ER, B773ER, A343, and A332 have PTV's in Economy.

Some B744 have it... some don't.

.... but a lot of the options (games, feedback etc) have yet to be loaded on some of the B773ER's.

I thought that the 773ER has the new IFE on it. Which means it has games, feedback, a new movie system. It also has an air video like the A330-200.

I've heard of the "rebooting" of IFE systems mentioned several times. How do they do that?! Does it reboot the whole a/c's ife system, the whole rows, or just the individual ptv or what?

thx.. geek

I don't think that rebooting the IFE systems reboots all of the a/c's life systems. Last summer, I was on a Ted flight from IAD to FLL aboard an Airbus 320. The inflight entertainment system had no sound for some reason and they tried rebooting it several times but it still wasn't working. So I'm guessing that if they can reboot it so many times, its just a local reboot and not all of the a/c's life systems. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Talk me about reboot..
On my PEK-CDG 777 flight, mine was rebooted two times, it's actually only your PTV that is rebooted. Don't expect much anyway, my two experiences were very very poor image quality and almost inaudible sound.
I agree about the footrest it actually reduce your legroom if you use it. And mine was broken... in the down position...
coz I'm leaving on a jetplane !

I've used them, and they are great indeed, although I missed the VOD that LAN uses in their PTV's.

The rebooting shuts down the whole IFE system in all classes of the plane. They can not reboot only one seat.

On one of my recent AF 772 flights CDG-JFK the movies on my PTV where not working, and it turned out that on all of them they where not working so the had to reboot the entire system. But on one of my VS flights on a A340-300 my PTV was not working (only mine) and they FAs told me they could not reboot only one PTV so they gave me one of those portable dvd players they have on the United P.S.

AlitaliaMD11,

The Rockwell System used by AF on board B772/B773 allows the Purser to reboot a whole cabin, a row of seat, a pair of seats, or just one seat if there is any "bug" in the IFE of that particular seat.
