Potential Of Air Cargo Between Africa-China

Sun Mar 06, 2005 5:11 pm

What is the potential of air cargo between Africa and China?
What are the preffered cities (for cargo) in Africa for Chinese airlines?

Many Thanks.

Cheers

there are several flights. for example JNB-HKG, ADB-PEK, flights from Cairo...

there is a decent potential of Aircargo from Africa to China but more from China to Africa.

a big part is flown through an european hub. but also the direct flights are used often.

Interesting question.

We are currently working on a project that calls for the development of aircargo hubs in Africa.

Nigeria, South Africa, Dakar Senegal, Nairobi, and Accra are frequently discussed.

What are you thinking is the potential for such hubs serving China from Africa?

I guess a good idea is to feed the african cargo to the asian routes via the hubs in SHJ/DXB/AUH, rather than feeding it through the european hubs. Carriers could , or better say are, using that additional cargo to balance the unpaired commodity flow between europe and asia. I don't know if there's enough potential for a own hub in africa really, but maybe in 15 years when production in china gets too expensive  stirthepot

ET carries a lot of cargo from China (PEK, HKG, CAN) on its regular passenger service. But cargo from Africa to China, I don't think there is.
