-JetBlue Receives FAA’s Highly Coveted Diamond Certificate of Excellence Award-

New York, NY (March 7, 2005) – JetBlue Airways [NASDAQ: JBLU] announced that it has received the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) prestigious Diamond Certificate of Excellence Award for the airline’s maintenance technician training program.

The Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Awards program is designed to encourage aviation maintenance technicians to take advantage of initial and recurrent training. The stringent requirements of this award, the highest of 5 levels of achievement, have been surpassed by 149 JetBlue Crewmembers who will receive the “Diamond” recognition.

The Certificate of Excellence was presented by Mel Freedman, Manager of FAA Flight Standards and Tom Mineo, FAA Supervisor District Office 15 on Friday, March 4 to Dave Barger, JetBlue’s President and COO, and Tom Anderson, JetBlue’s Senior Vice President of Technical Operations and Aircraft Programs during a special ceremony at the company’s Crewmember Support Center in Forest Hills, New York.

“JetBlue takes pride in the development and training of all of our crewmembers,” said Dave Barger, President and COO of JetBlue Airways. “It’s a privilege and honor to receive this recognition and we remain committed to continually training our maintenance technicians and ensuring everyone at JetBlue puts safety first.”

Not a big deal..........nowdays just about every airline gets this. Most recurrent training can now be done via CBTs so it's not like it takes alot of time. Also, most training is recurrent on a yearly basis so it adds up quickly.

It's nice to hear they are spending money on training, but as said above, its no big deal. I've personally won the Diamond Award 4 times.
