On Terrorist Suspect List

Tue Mar 08, 2005 4:31 am

One of my clients is on a business trip to Washington. She just told me that last time she traveled, she was subjected to scrutinizing and offensive search. She found out later that her name matches the name of a person on infamous terrorist suspect list.
What can she do to clear her name or at least to avoid extra security measures in future? Any ideas?

There is a form letter provided by TSA which she can get at any major carrier or on-line which will remove her name from the list.

But what about the real terrorist by the same name? We don't want her removed?

There is an application on the TSA's website, you send them copies of your driver's licence, passport and birth certificate and a description of yourself and fill out a form and have everything notarized and send it in and then the TSA informs the airlines that the person with that name matching that person's description is cleared from the no-fly list, but the name still remains on the list to find the real terrorist.

What a world we're living in  frown  and even terrorists can do this, they've done much further things in the past.

I am sure it is not just filling out your application. I am sure TSA does a very throughly search of your whole life, then they'll think bout removing you from the list if they like you

It took Teddy Kennedy months and months to get removed from the no fly list. God only knows how long it would take someone else to be removed.

A number of times Teddy Kennedy was denied boarding. I have no doubt that the TSa has forms etc. etc to fill out, it would be how long it would take to clear the wrong person. Also, in the mean time, the "wrong" person is subject to all the hassel until he or she is cleared.

I have contacted TSA. We'll see what they say. Anything will help. She was strip searched once and once denied boarding. She is fed up!

Thank you all!

I can see myself about to go on my soapbox about the TSA and these terrorlists. But this is starting to remind me of the 1950s when there was the red scare...
