Nothing to really get all excited about: the JFK and Europe services are all code share operations with and operated by EK. The Beijing flights were already announced. I just wonder how they got their hands on three extra LHR slots. Also, it seems that the earlier announced pull-out from FRA and ZRH was not true after all, as both destinations are still programmed for the summer.

It's not obvious but this is great news for MAN! They've previously stated that once they go double daily into LHR then they will consider launching services to MAN, so here's hoping that they start by summer 2006!

Where will the 2 new flights to Kuwait operate via or to?

Currently they operate daily A330-200 service via Dubai.

It was said a while ago that the 2 new weekly flights would be non-stop to Kuwait and continue somewhere after, possibly Beirut.

Resumption of Australia was due mid/late 2005, and was based on UL acquiring an additional A343.
From what I understand, they are having trouble sourcing this aircraft [at the right price, of course!], and that plans have been put on hold following the tsunami.

i would say that northern summer 06 now looks more likely.

Expands big time??
Closing ZRH after 25 years of operations and replacing it with a codeshare on EK...... is not exactly what I call "expansion".
.....up there with the best!

Very good that at least they are able to operate between the two economic capitals.. neither AI nor IC - responsible for that sector - are operating.. it is really sad

I hope they use the A 332 on the KHI-BOM-CMB-BOM-KHI route and not the A 320 as the latter is too small and uneconomical to fly on such a short haul route structure. The operating economics of the A 332 are perfectly suited for this route structure which sees consistent high demand for all the sectors involved all year round.

However due to this route structure of UL, they will lose a lot of KHI pax who fly UL via CMB to BKK-SIN-KUL-HKG-NRT etc. If the Indian Govt makes UL's Pakistani pax need transit visas to sit in the plane at BOM for an hour then that will make things even worse for UL as then no one will want to fly them unless its KHI-BOM-KHI.
