I've been listening to JFK tower all day and it has definetly been pretty interesting. At one point UAL 400 declared a fuel emergency and diverted to EWR when all the runways at JFK were closed. Also the ground controller was heckled by some on the frequency to start singing while they were waiting to taxi.

Anyone know when B612 diverted to RDU? Was working the ramp today
until about 1900 local and did not see a B6 320 at all. Must have parked
over at Terminal C or at one of the FBO's.

DL 2070 FLL-LGA diverted to JFK, flight went FLL-JFK-FLL instead of FLL-LGA-FLL...did the plane go out empty or did they bus the pax from LGA to JFK?

going to B6 at RDU, that reminds me that this weekend at Carnegie, a group from Charlotte flew Continental (afraid of USAirways) I told them we flew jetBlue, they said "What's jetBlue?"

and B6 12 was actually diverted to BWI and not RDU...according to flightarrivals.com

B6 378 FLL-LGA diverted to ACY (recovered)
NEXT FLIGHT: FLL-ATL-HPN on FL

Thats quite the diversion... did they figure they'd conect all those passengers at ATL instead of JFK?

I see the other DL diverted to CVG... is this a routine practice at Delta to divert to their hubs? makes it cheaper in some way? i did notive that DEN-JFK diverted to PIT... CVG isnt too far from PIT why not go there in that case? anyone care to enlighten me?

Purely speculation - but that makes sense to me. If I've got to divert a wide body from across the pond I'd rather send it to one of my hubs rather than someplace I have little or no presence. Sure makes it easier to get the pax on to their destination without having to transfer them to another carrier, or to put them in a hotel where I already have contracted rates.

If you've ever experienced a diversion to an airport with little service by the diverting carrier, you will know how much more comfortable I would be . . . even if my final destination was JFK and they sent me to ATL or CVG (using DL as the example) I know I stand a far greater chance of getting out of there on my carrier, with my luggage, today, quickly, than having to rely on the good graces of a different carrier that could care less about a DL pax on a diversion . . . .

OH had repo flight 9465 from RDU to PWM tonight which ended up diverting to ROC about 2 hours ago. Looks like they'll have another repo flight tomorrow!

AC had a A319 flight from YYZ to BOS which circled East of ALB for about 40 minutes then went back to YYZ b/c BOS is still closed.

The N.E. went downhill fast today...

B6 flies to Miramar? This can't be right.

While I was unable to get tail numberfor it, I did see

KL 641 AMS-JFK b777

at BWI tonight. It sat at a hold point for a good time, maybe 2 hours. Although I was super busy, so I might have lost track of time.

Also there was at least one
B6 a320
TZ 738

A couple of my coworkers also mentioned to me that they saw an OK plane also. I ws unable to personally confirm this though.

There were a slew of AA planes sitting on one of the de-ice pads all at once, although I couldn't get close enough to see them

And of course we (WN) had what seemed like 100 diversions/cancellations/ferries throughout the night. In the end we ended up with 10 extra planes at the end of the night.

I'd write more details but tonight has drained me and I'm about to hit the hay.

NTS
United 717 heavy, you're facing the wrong way. Any chance you can powerback to get off of my deice pad?

Yep, OK 50 PRG-JFK went to BWI. I listed it above but for some reason I wrote CY instead of OK.  Smile
