MyTravel Cabins

Thu Mar 10, 2005 12:50 am

Are MyTravel ever going to update the cabin interiors. They are still using the Airtours seats and all they have done since the re-branding is put MyTravel logos on the head rest.

They are starting to look really dated. Most other British Charters have gone through a variety of cabin changes so why not MyTravel!! With such bright planes on the outside, you would expect something equally as dazzling on the inside.

I think we should look at the facts here.

There was 4 years until they finally got round to painting more than 20% of there aircraft, whats the chances of changing the seats as well.

Hello,

I was thinking this the other day, the Airtours interior doesn't exactly match the planes MyTravel exterior and I do think they look a bit dated. How long have they had that fabric? Since about 1991 I think. I think the problem is, with the colours of the airline being Blue and Orange, what else could they use as fabric inside? They could also be saving some money at the moment. Suggestions for a new one, maybe a nice Pale Orange colour, not to bright or not to dark.

It would be nice to see an improvement though.

Cheers  Cool Ryan

Hi,

The interiors are replaced every few months as with carpets when they become warn. The Premier Gold cabin has been refurbished and the main cabin will be in due course. The current cabin is very versatile and doesn't look out of place to be honest.

Since your in a MyTravel bashing mood, would you like to calculate the percentage of how many aircraft are in different liveries at Britannia, sorry Thomsonfly and just how long it has taken them considering there re-brand began before MyTravel‘s!

Orange seats?!:O I hope not lol. I think a nice plain navy seat and an orange headcover would be a good idea. Orange seats might be a bit hard on the eyes Wink

And when AIH changed to MYT they did chage the cabins slightly, they have MyTravel in frosted glass on the front bulkheads on the Airbii, and also have added clouds to the other bulkheads. The seats have remained the same along with the green seatbelts.

Although on the A330 in premium they changed the seats from cream with AIH, to a navy blue leather with MYT.

I'd rather sit in an MYT cabin than the bright green (monstrocity) that is the FCA seats which require sunglasses.

Probably something to do with the fact the entire MyTravel group has been on the brink of collapsing for the past two years? We all know MyTravel hasn't been in great shape for a while so perhaps they didnt think throwing money away on new cabins was worth it. Like Thomas Cook has said, the current cabin is versatile, there isn't anything fundamentally wrong with it, it serves its purporse.

MyTravel are now finally turning their fortunes around and on the road to recovery. Maybe in the next couple of years we may see a new cabin, when MYT are in a position to do it.

MYT are a very friendly airline. In my experience their cabin crew are very down to earth and good humoured and really have a laugh and a joke with the passengers and the young kiddies.

I think their cabin is clean and fresh looking, please no orange seats!

The MyTravel Uniform,

Do a search in the Archived Civil Aviation Foum in the date of 2004 and type:

"Photos Of MYT" There should be a post showing the uniform

Yes Certinaly is, i remember when i travelled PremG they were grey a bit like Thomas Cook (JMC) seats are now, which are also changing to the dark blue colour sometime this year.

I suppose theres a overwhelming advantage to dark blue leather, it doesnt look dirty.

Deffinatly So. They may have taken a few extras out since when i travelled but thats nothing much.

You get

35" Seat Pitch

Extra Wide Seats

Extra Movies

Free Drinks

Upgraded Meals

30kg

And More...

What you used to get but im not sure anymore

Ammenity Kits

I forgot to mention ... - The fact that they taken out a couple of extras seems to have resulted in the prices being dropped quite a bit. The same flight as i did the price was £239 (high season upgrade) and now is £179 (high season upgrade) so i would say it is still worth the expense.

I'd check your facts on that one, nobody's premium economy (charter or scheduled carrier) includes lounge access as part of the fare. You can book it for an extra charge, but so can anyone travelling economy.

This is a straight cut-and-paste from a MyTravel W2006 e-brochure;

upgrade to mytravel premiair gold
From just £199 per person, you can look forward to in-flight luxury on selected flights. You can enjoy...

before you fly
✔ Exclusive check-in at all UK departure airports
✔ Reduced check-in time for UK departure, up to 90 minutes before you fly
✔ Increased baggage allowance of 30kg
✔ Pre take-off drink

in the air
✔ Separate seating area, where we seat you and your party together wherever possible though you may be separated by an aisle and specific seats cannot be booked.
✔ Extra seat width and leg room
✔ Complimentary personal headphones
✔ Complimentary bar service (excluding champagne), wine with your meal and ice cream
✔ Complimentary water and orange service
✔ A choice of meals including a children’s choice
✔ Comfort packs for night flights

on arrival
✔ Priority baggage collection in resort

Thats where i came up with the assumtion they had stopped giving ammenity kits because its only on the return then. on the outbound to asia. This was because i hadnt seen them on the outbound flights.

The only one i know is Hayes And Jarvis who offer business lounges with a upgrade to Star Class Premier. However that is a premium brand.

I was also thinking, theres only My Travel and First Choice who dont offer select a seat currently. What ive seen of it at Thomas Cook it is doing very well indeed. I think it is something they should be looking at in the near future.

Back to the inital point of this topic,

I dont think there is any options to change the seats, no airline in there right mind would have orange seats however a blue seat with orange headrest maybe a good idea.

I should warn you this really doesnt happen on the return flights. The airports in the caribean and likewise tend to load the premium baggage on first (off last) because of the priority checkin.
