Luton Gets A New Corporate Logo And Website

Thu Mar 10, 2005 9:51 am

Luton Airport has today launched a new corporate Logo and very professional looking website, in contrast to the old tinpot website the offered.

This is probably the result of the takeover of the TBI group which previously owned Luton Airport to the Spanish Consortium - ACDL and with Aena Desarrollo Internacional SAU. Who are extremely keen to exploit Luton as BAA alternative London airport.

Hopefully this is the start of much needed investment into Luton that will attract other airlines to the airport.

The best logo for Luton would be a Spanish wicker donkey or a pair of castanets. Perhaps Lorraine Chase could do abit of advertising for them Big grin

Great logo - very professional and corporate...

The swoop and font remind me of Delta's Song logo....

And the swoop reminds me of the BA logo - perhaps the swoop is trying to show a more corporate image.

Perhaps they should have gone for something more in kin with their customer base like this  Wink  fluffy

Shiny new logo, same old crap airport. Ho hum.

Until they remove the cattle pens and install jetways (and bomb the terminal and build it again), LTN will always be just a second-class LCC filler airport, nothing more.

I agree with JGPH1A. Luton was recently voted the countries crappest town! some accolade, the airport is about the same really.

AND the airport will never be London Luton, it is Luton and we all know that Luton is knowhere near London!

Actually its quicker to drive from North London to Luton than it is to get to Stansted from NE London - or from much of South London to Gatwick. If we take that argument then Stansted should be Bishops Stortford and Gatwick would be Crawley (shudder!) - leaving Heathrow and City as the only London airports.

STN has always been London Stansted and LGW always London Gatwick. Luton, however was and still is Luton, despite what the airport says!

It was always a charter airport with few if any scheduled flights. Now with the decline of charters its the no-frills airport. It has always been a bit of a joke since that Lorraine Chase advert and I read on the BBC news website that Luton had won the title of 'crappest town in Britain'.

Trust me - it is mainly used by Londoners who see it as an airport serving London. Yes its a bit crappy, but it can't really be argued that its not a London airport when it has the largest metropolitan area in Europe down the road.

As is Stansted.....

It is technically London Luton - the airport code LTN is associated as an airport for city code LON by IATA.

CITY :
LON C LONDON /GB:UNITED KINGDOM
AIRPORT-HELIPORT :
BQH A BIGGIN HILL /GB - 0K
LGW A GATWICK /GB - 0K
LHR A HEATHROW /GB - 0K
LCY A LONDON CITY APT /GB - 0K
LTN A LUTON AIRPORT /GB - 0K
STN A STANSTED /GB - 0K

Mind you, so is Biggin Hill  Smile

I hear they rejected the initial design:

LMAO Zonky!

As for their website, their destination map shows the resort of Sharm El Sheikh in the place of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia!?!? Jeez can you imagine...

As for Luton, I tend to prefer it to STN / EGSS), United Kingdom">STN / EGSS), United Kingdom">STN / EGSS), United Kingdom">STN simply cos its easier, cheaper and quicker to get to the airport.

You think LOndon Luton's insane, London Southend or London Manston's worse!

Nice new corperate image, just a tad similar though to BA Wink,

Fortunately neither Manston nor Southend are (officially or otherwise) "London" airports.

Nice new logo. Sorry I can't agree that its a crap airport though. Ok, so it doesn't have huge international services from top airlines, but its still a good airport. It serves its purpose. Used it the other year for a ZB flight to FAO. The airport was a pleasure to use, very easy and hassle free.

I would love to take a flight to Tessalonika though. Just to see where it is!!

Actually the CAA brackets Southend in as a London area airport.

Well the CAA might for its own arcane purposes, but as far as selling flights goes, SEN is not LON.

Actually I thought it a bit bizarre - but isn't it getting a train station built - if so how quick would it take to get into the city from there ?

It's a bit of an academic question anyway, because nobody operates scheduled services out of SEN. I think from East London (eg. Albert Square), Southend is quite close by train.

Trains to Southend are out of Fenchurch St with C2C (Southend Central /
Southend East ), or First GER out of Liverpool St (Southend Victoria). Which service the airport spur will operate on i don't know...
