Airlines Serving Greenland

Fri Mar 11, 2005 4:10 am

Other than the national carrier Air Greenland who I think only serves Copenhagen internationally, are their any other carriers with flights to Greenland.

Is there a demand for more flights for tourism or business purposes? Also what is the service like on Air Greenland, anyone flown them?

SAS doesn´t fly to Greenland anymore, I think that they cancelled their flight from Copenhagen in 2001/02

Air Iceland still flies there, I believe First Air does as well.

After attending last nights dinner at the Fairmont hotel, for Icelandair, I can certainly say, Yes, indeed Air Iceland does service Greenland from Reykjavik.

With F50s? Are there any other flights from Europe or North America?

First Air does not fly to Greenland anymore. They stopped in the late 90s.

Cheers!

SAS does not have 767s anymore, they wish they did though

It is not that many, but they are isolated and need to get off the Island somehow. Also, since Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark (with some autonomy) government officials have to travel

Here are some pics of Greenland from the air.

Looks like the only way to get there is on Air Greenland from CPH to Kangerlussuaq (SFJ). From SFJ you can go to everywhere else in Greenland it seems: GOH, JEG, JAV, JHS, to name a few. I used this product to get the info.

Air Iceland serves Greenland from Iceland: check it out

I gotta get up there.

That's will be great ! I spend 4 days in Ammasalik on the East Coast, dogsledding - it was magic fun, its such a beautiful place. We flew over from Iceland on Air Iceland F50 into Kulusuk, and took a helicopter over to AGM. Flights into KUS can be very iffy, as there are no Navaids, so its very dependent on the weather, which can be capricious.
