The reg is A6-EBA

Thanks to Jet City Aviation for getting a photo.

I think it looks really nice. Does anyone know what routes these birds will fly for EK?

Just checked on Emirates.com and it says the 77w will be used on GLA-DXB. A quick google said that 77w means 777-300ER.

26 will be leased (I believe from GECAS and ILFC) while four are purchased directly from Boeing, with nine more options (so the 13 Boeing gives will be the four firm orders plus the nine options, the rest will be listed under ILFC and GECAS)

Since EK is going to be operating both the A340-600HGW and the 777-300ER, I'm definitly looking forward to what EK thinks which one out of the two is more reliable and profitable Aircraft. I'm sure that answer will come in Future orders.

This is pretty much a pointless point but, I live about 8 miles south of Boeing Field, directly in the flight path to the runway, and the first time I saw this 773 come over head, at 600 or so feet, I must say that it was nice to be told by the plane itself what airline its owned by. I'm right under them when they go over so its hard to see enough of the tail when it goes away to even have any kind of idea of the carrrier. I would say that no matter what plane it is, I can only tell 10 percent or so of the carriers that come over because of the angle.

Hey look everyone, its another pointless post by me.  Wink

When does the first 777-300ER (A6-EBA) enter service?

Routes so far are:

DXB-BKK-SYD

DXB-GLA

What other routes will the 773ER fly on?

Since the A380 won't be available until sometime in '06 at the earliest, the 773ER could provide more capacity in the interim.

I find it incredible that EK is planning to fly a B773ER to GLA. Is there really such a demand for the DBX-GLA route? I thought they were flying A330s on that route...

But, hey, it's great for all Glasgow spotters!

First route for the B777-300ER will in fact be DXB-MNL and vv on the EK334/335, 6x weekly (daily ex-mon). A6-EBA is actually a high density config. acft and will be exclusively used on this route for the first couple of months.

A6-EBB is a low density config. acft and will be deployed on the EK418/419 DXB-BKK-SYD-AKL and vv. The route will operate 3x weekly during April and then move upto a daily operation in May once A6-EBC arrives.

Planned routes for the B777-300ER are as follows:

EK334/335 DXB-MNL-DXB Daily ex-Mon
EK418/419 DXB-BKK-SYD-AKL-SYD-BKK-DXB Daily
EK011/012 DXB-LGW-DXB Daily
EK001/002 DXB-LHR-DXB Daily
EK017/018 DXB-MAN-DXB Daily
EK025/026 DXB-GLA-DXB Daily
EK055/056 DXB-DUS-DXB Daily ex-Sat
EK761/762 DXB-JNB-DXB Daily
EK763/764 DXB-JNB-DXB Daily
EK301/302 DXB-PEK-DXB Daily

From what i understand the -300ERs wont have the F class cabins like the A345s but will feature flat bed seats and a AVOD system. Not sure if its exactly the ICE system that's on the 345s.

I am surprised the 773ER will not be replacing the A345 on the SYD-DXB direct route. According to Boeing range charts the distance is not a problem and the 773ER would provide more seats and cargo capacity over the A345.
This route is also scheduled to go to A380 when it arrives, so wouldn't an increase now be a good move?

Odd that they are under-using the 773ER for the BKK-SYD-AKL route. Surely a 773 is fine for this route. Though it will be nice to have the option of a non-high density aircraft. That 3-4-3 configuration is no fun for anybody and really impacts upon your view of EK's service.

Passenger loads on the A332 are now around 75%-85%, clearly not justifying a B773! But the route carries substantial amounts of cargo and has done wonders for cargo figures at GLA. That is most likely to be the main reason for this decision.

Emirates should receive all of its B777-300ERs by September 2007. However note they have 9 options which are valid until 2013 - it is likely that Emirates will probably exercise them so deliveries are likely to continue beyond Sep. 07.

Note the B777-300ERs - whether in high density or low density config - will continue to have a 3-4-3 config. in economy class. The only difference will be one less row of F and J seats reflecting the new seats. The existing 772 and 773s are most likely to be reconfigured to the new F and J config.

The B773ER cannot do DXB-SYD non-stop with a full pax AND cargo payload, taking off from DXB's hot temperatures. This aircraft is slated to operate route lengths of upto 12 hours. Therefore, it wouldnt be surprising to see other long distance routes in the network eg. PER, KIX, SEL, PEK, LOS, ACC.

The direct DXB-SYD flight will be upgraded from A345 to A346HGW probably in late 2006/ealry 2007 once these A346HGWs arrive. Thereafter to the A380.

Apologies in my earlier message i made a mistake. The B777-300ER will actually operate daily to Shanghai (PVG) not Beijing (PEK).

IC, but still, if EK gets GE to certify the GE-90 to -125 specs (was sustaining 127,500 last I heard) then that should not be an issue at all.

Quite easily. It can right now, the only issue is engine out, which is cutting it close with the GE90-115. GE is reliably producing 127,500 with the engine as it goes now (150,000 is not out of the realm of possibility) and EK is putting the full court press on for a -125 version of the engine which would pass engine out tests without breaking a sweat

It could technically do it now if the world was regulation-free.

It can fly the route today, but with weight restrictions. The restrictions are in place in the event of an engine failure on departure from hot and high DXB.

We can't say for sure how much, but certainly 125,000 pound engines would help shore up the restrictions on such a route.

FWIW, the breakdown on the 26 leased is 14 GECAS and 12 ILFC. All up, EK will take 10 B773ERs in 2005; 12 in 2006 and 8 in 2007.  Wow!

Not a direct answer for you. However, I did notice that the last plan I saw for EK had both their A345s and 3-class B773ERs (which will be the 14 leased from GECAS; the 12 ILFC ships will be 2-class) with 12 First & 42 Business seats.

Yes when EK originally placed the B 773ER order, I clearly recall reading a comment from them that this order was intended to replace the A 343s on all their currently flown routes.

The A 343s are leased for a period of 9 years and when the leases expire, EK would have taken delivery of all its B 773ERs by then.
