Mon Mar 14, 2005 7:48 pm

Hello,

Last night at AMS there was a First Air 727 parked at the cargo apron in front of the MP building. The reg. was C-GVFA.

Does anyone knowing what it was doing there? It seems to be a long way from home. Big grin
Thanks in advance for any info.

I also saw that aircraft from my work, but it left already. It probably was a cargo charter flight. It was a 727-100C. Nice to see a 727 in AMS, it was the first time I've seen a 727 at AMS since I've been living here (9 years).

See my post a little later in the thread. Spotters: Iceland to Phoenix? This may have been the same plane. Can't believe no one here noticed. It landed in PHX about 1:30pm, local time (13:30).

Today, Flytecomm.com shows a First Air 727 flight orginating in Amsterdam, then to Iceland then to YOW, then PHX. PHX spotters?

Maybe Aviationman knows the answer to the AMS charter and whether it was pax or cargo, since he works for 7F.

Yes it was a freighter charter on behalf of the Dutch Military..... B-727-100 and it operated as follows:

Sunday March 13th:

YOW-KEF-AMS

Overnight

Monday March 14th:

AMS-KEF-YOW-PHX-YOW

Cheers!

Thank you YOW and Aviationman for clarifying. I noticed on March 14 that First Air was landing in PHX and the routing Aviationman posted confirmed it. Imagine flying a 727 AMS-KEF-YOW-PHX. I hope they changed crew  Smile

Although I'm not a spotter, I wonder if any caught it at PHX?

Here's the pic, for those interested... Was this the first time it was seen outside the Americas? I wonder how many people actually saw it at AMS.

Nice photo Eduard. I saw the aircraft from my work, but it was already night, so I couldn't take a nice photo of it. There were other aircraft parked next too it, so a nice photo would have been impossible....  Sad

"Was it the first time it was seen outside the Americas?"

Oh my God...No! It was seen in Russia, Belgium, Holland, Turkey.........We fly worldwide adhoc charters with B-727-100s, B-727-200's, passengers and cargo flights......and the Herc too.....

Cheers!
