Airline Funding

Thu Mar 17, 2005 4:06 am

HI THERE,

Can anyone tell me how these new start ups get their funding. Even with all the market research that happens with the start up.... you cant guarantee the invester a return just because your research says it will work.

What type of companies invest in start ups and what kind of return do they expect etc.

Hope someone can help and im sorry if this has been covered.

Many Thx

Sometimes it's a consortium of wealthy private persons that will put (some) money in a new airliner.
Sometimes it's just one single person with a lot of ambition, a good plan and guts to start up an airliner. The best example is ofcourse Virgin's Richard Branson.
Another example is Lauda Air's Niki Lauda, although I think he did it with a couple of friends.

There are companies who's main task is to find funding for small companies. They have a list of venture capitialists who they hit up on a regular basis. It can either be banks or investment companies or individuals.
