Any guesses on which FA base will get the 6 day trip. I'm betting on DTW.

I would think DTW would be the most likely base because they already have the India training and that the large number of commuters would appreciate the six-day trip. Would like to see it in BOS; however the small size of the base and its demographics would cause a problem staffing it. Most people based in BOS live there and prefer shorter trips.

So this will be a daily flight???

Any chance of getting that 333 to also serve BOM?

And maybe they will also be awarded to fly to Chennai???

Will this be a daily flight? I sure hope so. Will there be good connections to other US cities from AMS? Or will one have to head to SEA and then switch flights? I'm glad this flight is 2 hours after the LH flight to FRA, the arrivals/departures halls would have been hosed with multiple wide bodies at the same time. I dread the day when the LH flight is delayed by 2 hours!

Would this be the first 333 at BLR? I think MH operates a 332 on this route, TG a 300, LH 343, SQ 777, GF 320 and UL a 320.

SEA-AMS-SEA is currently operated by a D10, I guess that's getting an upgrade to a 332 by the Winter schedule?

Yes! AMS being an European hub of KL/NW, you'll surely get connections to wherever they fly North America. You can go to the extent of calling it a North America-BLR flight.

All flight attendants at all bases are trained for the India market. Actually there is no formal training. I think it could be MSP if not DTW.

NW would never base any decision on the fact that most of DTW commutes. Just ask the reserves.

Interestingly Air France is also starting 5 times weekly BLR - CDG from end October.

What is KLMs stance in India?

Go along with NW and push their services or push their "parent" (Air France) services???

Incidentally both KL and AF now have sepeerate GSAs currently in BLR, but the situation may change closer to date (like LH dumped their GSA in HYD once they became online ).

actually, Jet, I heard that SEA based FAs will crew the BLR flight making it a 6 day flying out of SEA. I also heard that NW is filing to do either BLR-NRT or BOM-NRT making it possible for pax to do a round the world itinerary. Somehow AMS-DEL will return back to the red-tail from the blue tail. We'll see...

Let's hope so. India has been our most consistantly, well-performing market with the exception of the period after 9/11. I'd like to see the 6-day BLR go to SEA. SEA needs more flying anyhow.

This is a good point - any folks from KLM in the know? Is KLM planning to expand to other cities in India, or are they content with the 1 daily service they've got?

This would be way cool - BLR-NRT-SFO or BLR-AMS-NYC on NW 330s. I hope this comes through, it should give LH some competition out of BLR. The only reason LH is so heavily booked out of Bangalore is due to the fact that the flight originates in BLR. Most people don't like the service/seats on LH, and would be willing to try another carrier!

Given the O&D demand from BLR to the US, I don't think NW will have any problems filling their aircraft with both high yielding business pax, and lower yield/high volume VFR pax.

May be India will become NW's hub-country Big grin It'll be very interesting to see. Considering we have a code-share with Jet Airways the additional int'l flight in/out of BLR will give a good feed to pax connecting domestically with Jet Airways.

Good for our fellow BLR citizens---i am just a bit jealous that they will be getting the marvelous A330 in NWs fleet, while we at BOM are stuck with the ancient DC-10s.

For RTW flights they could go this way

DTW-AMS-BOM-Hongkong-SFO/LAX

AND

ORD-AMS-BLR-NRT-SEA

Any thoughts on these RTW flights
