They are at 1500-2000 feet, not flight level

Those critters can fly pretty high. Last fall our Bonanza was northbound at 12,500' near Lakeview, Oregon, and a couple of southbound Canada geese went by a few hundred feet above us.

I've had bugs hit the windshield at 12,000 feet or higher. Makes we wonder -- were they carried aloft by rising air, or were they just enjoying the view?

back in the early days i guess the airlines learned from geese that flying higher saves fuel idea
