BACX's ATP, SF3, DH6 And Other Aircraft

Sat Mar 19, 2005 2:49 am

On which route do BACX's ATP, SF3, DH6 and other small 'props operate? It's such a shame that its airfares are normally very expensive for such short flights. I guess most are based at GLA.

British Airways CitiExpress don't operate any of those aircraft types - the ATP was phased out several months ago and I don't recall them ever operating any of the others. Their operational fleet is soley made up of the Dash 8, ERJ-145 and BAE146/Avro RJ100.

Sun Air of Scandinavia still operate the ATP in BA colours, and Loganair operate the Saab340, Twin Otter and Islander on their Scottish network.

Ah yes. For some reason I assumed BACX included Loganair. Do you know on what routes these machines operate?

Sorry - no,
You'd have to cross reference the route network on the Loganair website against the BA timetable, which I believe includes aircraft types.

All bar one or two Saab 340s are based at GLA and they operate within Scotland. One obvious route with the DH6 is GLA-Barra. The ATP can be found on GLA-Stornoway (amongst others?) and all routes from EDI are on the Saab.

Doesn't one of the SF3's operate GLA-LDY-MAN-LDY-GLA as well as LDY-DUB?

Thanks a lot! It's such a shame the flights aren't cheap. Ah well.

No, they stopped serving LDY-MAN-LDY last year, RE now operates AT4 equipment between MAN and LDY on a daily basis.

The ATP which operates the ABZ-SUM-ABZ and the ABZ-GLA-ABZ will be phased out by the end of May as a result the BACX engineers based at ABZ have been made redundant. The above services will be with the Saab 340b with more frequencies.
They may base some more saabs at ABZ because of this.
