It's still at MAN, and it didn't end up doing the test flight on the 19th March.

Samair, here is that link for more information on G-BYDA: G-BYDA Test Flight Today (by Burberry753 Mar 19 2005 in Civil Aviation)

That website link says that Globespan are planning to get a 777 or similar in 2006!

Also what routes will the DC-10 fly, are they from GLA or EDI?

I don't think anything has been confirmed yet, but I'll look into this, and report back.

It was parked at the rear of the MyTravel hanger at MAN yesterday afternoon 20/3. I could only see the dark blue tail section, maybe other local MAN spotters may have more info.
Flying may not be all plain sailing, but the fun of it is worth the price.

It was there all weekend - I saw it at the back from my LHR flights on Saturday and Sunday.

Been as though the plane is to be confirmed as to going to Globespan or not, I am afraid I cannot give any info as to if the Aircraft will be flying from GLA or EDI, or what routes it will be flying.  Sad but I will keep you posted!

Its a shame that they seem to be unable to get it flying for the moment really. However im sure they kick the life back into the old bird yet.

Hello everyone!

This is probably what ex-MYT DC-10, G-BYDA would look like in FlyGlobespan colours!

Nope, that's a DC10.  Wink I'm not entirely sure if they'd paint it in full colours anyway, when and if they get it. Depends on if a mandatory re-paint is going to have to happen anyway, or what they plan to do with the aircraft, I guess.

Do you think that globespan are just getting G-BYDA until they find a newer Boeing or that they'll have her for a while? I will definately try to get a ride on her to YYZ if they are operating the Canadian routes with her!  Smile

Hi,

I'm not being nasty towards BYDA, but I can't really understand why they want her either!

I mean, they are plenty of 767s around, in deserts, I would think for them to invest in or other aircraft.

I do think that she will be replaced at one point by a newer aircraft, but hopefully not too soon!

Cheers, Ryan

I'm still not entirely convinced that it'll happen given that everything is 'TBC'.  Wink

Hello there,

FlyGlobespan have announced flights to Orlando, so some kind of Long-Haul aircraft has got to fly there, and I'm not thinking a 737.

Also, FlyGlobespan have received their first Boeing 737-800!

There are rumors of the aircraft receiving winglets in the next few days.

Flyglobespan are still thinking B777.  Wink I take it still no-one really knows if the DC10 is theirs or not?
