New Airbus Final Assembly Line In Hamburg

Tue Mar 22, 2005 12:41 am

"A new single-aisle final assembly line was inaugurated in Hamburg on 11 March. This latest A318, A319, A321 assembly line is located in a new 25,000m² hall equipped with mobile working platforms that can be moved rapidly using air cushion technology. A ‘flow line’ principle, according to which most tasks are carried out simultaneously has been adopted to reduce production time and increase production rate."

Thanks for posting that, I didn't see anything abou this in the newspapers here, and they usually report everything aboit Airbus. And where is that hall supposed to stand. All new buildings being built are essentially for the A380.

I still wonder why they don't build any A320s in Hamburg. It would increase flexibility. Moving the A320 line completely from Toulouse to Hamburg is probably impossible for political reasons.

You answered the question yourself. The A320 is the topseller from Airbus, with almost twice as many orders as the next best, the A319, and more orders than A318, A319 and A321 combined. So of course it is important for "Le French" to keep it in TLS. Although they offered the A320 line to XFW should the runway extension have not gotten permitted.
