Unknown L-1011 @ LAX Today.

Sun Mar 27, 2005 7:20 am

I while visiting my home town I drove by LAX and saw an unknown L-1011. It had blue strips and a blue tail with a beautiful gold emblem in it. It is parked by the intersection of Supuvada and Imperial. If any body know who this jet belongs to, please tell me thank you.

PS there also and ATA L-1011 parked over by the old TWA hanger. This is a good day for those who live in the LA area that like L-1011.

The only 'unmarked' L1011 we have, is N163AT (blue tail but big ATA logo on the fuselage). And 163 has not been in LAX today ...

The L-1011 mentioned has been in town for well over a week now, and is parked over at the new Mercury FBO facility. Aircraft is from Saudi Arabia.

How about the third and fifth one down in this photo. Looks like a freighter. It's a '90 era photo but the only one in DB I could find in blue.

She's been at ATL and DFW several times in the past week (Doing AMC charters out of FRA to ATL, continuing on to DFW, returning to ATL, then back to FRA.), I think she went tech the other day @ ATL, as TZ sent in 757 a little while after the L-1011 came in, and the L-1011 stayed parked all day.

Hey folks this L-1011 has been at Imperial Highway for at least 1 1/2 week... It does have the Saudi Arabian flag on the left side of the plane...

I saw her yesterday as I was taxiing out to go back to MSY after a nice break back at home. I figured she was Saudi.

Yeah that plane has been here in LA more like two weeks. Any idea who it belongs to? I have seen it parked in DAL before. I know at ATA a few years ago we did a charter for the Saudi Royal's after one of there planes went tech. Perhaps this one? I know serval Saudi prince's and princess live throughout the US wouldnt be suprised if they are shopping in Beverly Hills this very moment..LOL
On another note what do you think they are paying in fees to keep that parked there all of this time?

My friend who lives in Santa Monica goes to school with one of the many Princes of Saudi Arabia. So I can conform that atleast one of the Saudi Arabian royal family lives near LAX.

Since they are parked on what is private lease hold property they pay based on whatever deal they have with Mercury FBO to handle the aircraft.

The only fee the airport received directly is a landing fee.

It has Saudi titles.

Laxintl is correct. That aircraft has been parked at LAX/Sepulveda for a long time.

As a fan of Tristars, I can tell you all it's one of last 2 Tristar 500s ever assembled by Lockheed before production ended. The Saudia family has both of these aircraft. I sure hope they'll stay in the family & flying for many years to come yet. Regards.

Thunderbird1,

It has Saudi titles? Um, that would be new...Can you or anyone else confirm this, or is it just "Saudi" registered?

I remember when a Tri-Star first took to the air (so I was told at the time) in the late 1960's when I was a pre-teen. Then did a flyover of the Douglas DC10 plant in Long Beach, CA. My neighborhood was in that flight path. It was a low pass and exciting for us kids on the ground. You could read L1011 Tri-Star across the fuselage. Always will be one of my very favorite planes... to fly on or just to look at. Wish the RR strike had never happened. Lockheed would probably still be in commercial plane business today if that labor mess had ended sooner.  listen K
