Notice that the Top 6 most punctual airlines avoid LHR (with the exeption of a handful of BMIR weekend flights), whilst 7 of the bottom 8 operate most of their UK services from LHR.

I am a little confused with the figures of this site: is it measuring the "average delay" on departure?  Confused

Seen by me, who works in the railway industry, I have to say that what is more interesting for the passenger is the average delay on arrival!

Furthermore comparing airlines with a value of delay in minutes, without considering the flight durations, seems a little odd.
The absolute value of the delay should be compared with the average duration of flights: a 15 minute delay on a 1 hour flight is not the same as 15 minutes on a 12 hours flight!
Avoid 777 with 3-4-3 config in Y ! They are real sardine cans. (AF/KL for example)

STN was, at one time, very quiet and so there were few delays. However, it is nowadays very busy indeed, with the over 30 FR flights alone between 0610 and about 0730. It is not at all uncommon to see 4 or 5 aircraft awaiting departure during the peak periods. I wonder whether the airport still offers to LCCs what it used to.

Wouldnt VS be more affected since they have less daily departures than plenty of other airlines out of LHR? Besides, I think they build it into their schedule because you almost always make up that time, and more, coming back over the Atlantic. VS has always gotten me in to LAX early, even whilst holding on the ground for up to an hour at LHR.

While you may have been holding for an hour after push back, this does not mean that there is a delay of an hour before take-off. The take off slot time can sometimes be as much as 30mins after push back. for example, if your departure is 1200 and you push back on time, the actual takeoff slot might be 1230. Therefore, if you actually take off at say 1245, it may seem to the passenger that the flight is 45mins late, but in reality it is only 15mins. The ground holding time is generally built into the schedule.
