Is Fedex Hiring?

Mon Mar 28, 2005 2:40 pm

Is Fedex currently hiring for pilots? If they are it seems like it would be a great place to fly. What airlines (in the US) are hiring for pilots right now?

Everybody and their dog wants to get hired there too. 1000 turbine PIC be the limiting requirement, matey. And yes.. my name is in the line haha.

Southwest, JetBlue, AirTran and most regionals are hiring. Word on the street is that CO is going to be hiring this summer.

Check out http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/content/view/44/36/ (formerly airlinepilotpay.com)

They list every airline that is hiring, and the pay of course. Most of the cargo carriers, regionals, and major/national/low-cost carriers are hiring pilots right now. It's really only the legacies that still have the door firmly closed, and the majority of those still have furloughed pilots.

Even so, to work at a place like FedEx or UPS, you need years of experience as Pilot in Command (captain) of a turbine aircraft and multiple reccomendations from currently employed company pilots. No small task. I'm sure almost every RJ captain in the country has applications on file at FedEx, UPS, and Southwest yet you don't see them leaving the regionals in droves. These airlines can afford to be very selective about who they hire.

Over at the sim building last week I passed two classes of new hires of about 30 pilots each.

Astar and UPS are hiring right now. UPS has plans to hire 300 this year. I don't know how many FEs Astar is going to hire. Keep in mind that DHL doesn't have an an airline in the US. They contract with Astar and ABX Air.

They only way somebody is going to get hired by FedEx is if you got connections. I can't imagine the list of people wanting to be hired at FedEx.
