The flights have already started, and Addis Abada is not a new destination for the BA network. The stop is simply being switched from Alexandria, Egypt.

I got all excited there for a second thinking they were switching to mainline... Alas it was all for naught.

This sounds like fun, specially in C-Class.  Sad

I am wondering how BA is able to compete in the high Yield market on such routes, as the competitors offer a real C-Class cabin.

However, I am also wondering the same thing for most airlines from TLV, where only BA, LH, LX and LY offer real widebody service, while most other airlines use B737s or A320s.

KLM should be flying into Addis Ababa by now, with twice weekly B763ER flights, served in combination with Khartoum, Sudan. Flights operate on Thursdays and Saturdays via Khartoum and nonstop on the way back.

I would always take ET widebody 767 non-stop over BA/BMED 321 with a stop.

It would be nice to see BA do Addis Ababa in house, perhaps a 757 non-stop?

Well, the company knows that BMED have created a go foothold in this market. The service is great and also a lot of the crew can speak the languages from these parts. To switch to mainline would be bad for BMED and I think you might find that BA have signed a contract with BMED so that BMED won't have the route taken off them.
BMED has been one of these airlines that you hear of little but have been doing well unlike some carriers although this could be because of the rich destinations it flys to. (but not all of them though are rich middle east countries).

ET operates the 757 to London from ADD via FCO. At least this is the case until such time that the 757s are converted into freighters.

Have you ever experienced B|MED's C service? Sure, it may not be the same as BA's on the long-haul fleet but it's definitely not the same as Club Europe or any competitive European C class (i.e. LH or AF).
