2 Commercial Airline Movies On Lifetime Tonight

Wed Mar 30, 2005 2:58 am

7pm (Est) "Nowhere To Land" - Jack Wagner as a pilot with nerve gas on the plane and being refused the right to land anywhere.

9pm (Est) "Airspeed" - 14 year old girl has to land a plane after lightening strikes the cockpit.

If anyone appreciates spotting technical errors on TV shows and movies, these two are made for TV and promise to be full of them. Enjoy!

Ah yes... the chick network...It seems all of their movies involve women in distress and finding a way out of their problems...very depressing. A better choice of a aircraft related movie for them and with a female hero, would be the TV movie done about the Aloha flight with the in flight fusualge damage.

I'm still trying to think how that is possible. Even to the aircraft illiterates out there, they would know that if lightning hits the cockpit, you can pretty much kiss your @ss goodbye, but hey, it's a movie.

They don't have to make sense, that's the beauty of them. I'll be tuned in for sure, unless there's something better on Bravo.  Wink

I thought Lifetime movies had to have a colon in it!

Like "Airspeed: The Christina Logan Story"

or "Nowhere to Land: The Jessica Smith Story"

Usually there's some horrible male animal testing the resolve of the female victim. I'm sure they'll work some evil man into both flicks.

The onscreen label I have programmed for Lifetime is "FWC." It stands for that F***ing Womens' Channel.

Up until a few months ago it used to be "AWP." Angry Women in Peril.

Hmmm...I never watched Air Speed before, it's on right now...but lighting struck (what looks like a 727?) and there is a hole in the fuselage, the autopilot is frozen in the "on" position with the flight crew "passed-out", and a 13 year old has to coordinate getting everybody off the plane via a refueling boom? Huh? When did I miss that 727-like planes can be refueled in-flight  Wink

What are passengers doing on a KC-135?

Ok, this movie is a bit too old and probably not "politically correct" for the Chick Flick network. But, if you want a cinematic tour de force that is guaranteed to make you laugh so hard, you'll have to pee in your air sickness bag!

  • Look at the plane in this picture! What's wrong with this picture? Well, the airplane has propellers! And its title is Jet Over The Atlantic!
  • It is in beautiful black and white.
  • Typical 1950's over the top overacted melodrama. And that movie music!
  • Amazing how, these passengers even through the agony of emanate defeat; (meeting the grim reaper), they look like they just had their stuffy 1950's threads Martinized! And the men all kept their Dick Tracey looking hats in place; And the women with that neatly coiffed George Washington style hair looked oh so prim and proper with their pillbox hats and white gloves!
  • Of course, through this impending disaster they huffed and puffed their Lucky Strikes.
  • And that so called Jet had the ancient Jurassic looking passenger cabin of a DC 6 or DC 7 and the plane sounded like a prop, like Skyking!

But, I digress, go watch both flicks on the chick network, they sound so awful they should be sort of a hoot. But, if you can find it, Jet Over The Atlantic is must see cinemascope 1950's hokum. Big grinD

This is what that Jet Over The Atlantic Sounded like; and the cast looked like this.

Now this is more Life Time! Tracy Gold deserves a Life Time poorly written with screwed up aviation details airline disaster movie!

LMAO!! I watched Nowhere To Land. Actually a pretty good movie. I have watched Airspeed for 2 minutes now, and I am ready to change the channel. The interior of the 727 that they showed taking off, looks like it could be an A380! I never knew the 727 cabin was so big. I mean the last time I flew a 727 was about 5 years ago. Interesting.... LOL!!!
