It would be nice to have a BE
cabin in the 764. When the 764 began running South American routes, and started running ATL
flights, I made the mention that it seemed very logical to put a BE
cabin in, as ATL
is longer than ATL
The answer I got was somewhat expected. While Delta would like to put a BE
cabin for comfort, the time to do it and cost are not of an advantage at this point. But more importantly, is the 764 was bought as a replacement for the L-1011, and was needed for long haul, HIGH LEISURE travel. Basically, they were saying, "We see that we could do this, but doing so would take out First Class seats, it would take out Economy Class seats, and since we can make more money on this airplane running it to Hawaii as we do, its more logical to keep in a current domestic configuration."
I understood that, otherwise they would have given Delta's L-10's the BE
cabin when it was first introduced as well.
