Expansion Of Air Wales

Fri Apr 01, 2005 2:44 am

I have heard quite a few rumors on PPRUNE about Air Wales increasing its services from CWL to Europe and within the United Kingdom. There has also been news of Air Wales acquiring extra aircraft such as another ATR42 and also introducing a new type of aircraft, possibly a moderately sized jet aircraft, E170?

Air Wales already operate;

CWL-PIK - operated on behalf of BMIbaby
CWL-ORK - operated on behalf of BMIbaby
CWL-CDG - operated on behalf of BMIbaby
CWL-JER - operated on behalf of BMIbaby
CWL-BFS - operate on behalf of BMIbaby

All fares are around £80 including tax which is pretty reasonable for the service that they offer.

Does anyone else think that there is any chance of them operating into;

IOM - Manx Airlines used to operate this route for a long time, until BA took over and pulled it. Surely there must be enough demand from the leisure perspective for the route to be sustained.

BRU - They tried this route before, surely a 2x service everyday would be fairly popular, even with SN Airlines operating BRS-BRU.

These are two services that I truly believe could work. However, I would like to see them operating into LGW, INV, MAD, FRA and ZRH. There must be enough demand for these services, after all there is enough demand from other small regional airports in the UK to these destinations.
