TAM Flights

Sat Apr 02, 2005 1:21 am

Does anybody know when JJ will start using there own metal and not RGs to destinations in brasil which they currently share,(which is I am glad to say finishing soon).
My main interest is if they will serve SSA from GRU.

Best wishes to all.

They already fly GRU-SSA with their own metal.

TAM flies MIA-SSA-GRU every Sunday with an A330.

You are right, but they only have a couple of direct services GRU to SSA daily, what I meant is that the majority are RG metal old 737s and the odd service on 757s.

The dead-line for the end of code-share is 01MAY05. On 02MAY05, the flights are under their own.

The codeshare JJ-RG will officially terminate on 01 May/05.

JJ new timetable and network is available on its website as of yesterday.

TAM will increase seat availability in 12%, mainly increasing flights on the CGH-SDU route from 25 to 31 daily flights. Operations in GRU will increase 15% and GIG will see major increase of flights of 65%.

CGH-BSB will get 13 daily nonstop flights, CGH-CWB 11 daily flights, CGH-CNF 9 daily flights, and CGH-POA 6 daily flights.

As per your question, SSA-GRU will have 3 daily nonstop flights (2 x A320 and 1 x F100) plus 1 daily direct flight (1 stop, 1 x F100).

As of 02 May TAM will operate to 44 destinations in Brazil with its own metal (NVT, JOI, CXJ will be added to the network of JJ-operated flights: NVT-CGH 3/4 x day; JOI-CGH 2/3 x day and CXJ-CGH 1 x day).

JJ will keep its codeshare agreements with small regional airlines (such as OceanAir) and, as a result, serve a total of 73 destinations in Brazil.

I think now we´ll se the real end of Varig, they were doing much less worse with the code share, I wnat to see their balance sheet on the end of 2005.

TAm is nº1 and predictions say GOL will be nº2 this year, not Varig, but GOL.

just gotta wait and see, but if it comes true, than the situation will be horrible, they´ll the 3rd place, nly because there´s only 3 players.

Thanks hardiwv,

This is great news for JJ passengers and very bad news for RG,but who knows what will happen to RG,I just read in my local paper (www.atarde.com.br)that
as well as aforementioned interest from the portugese investers who own Pestana hotels,Efromovich of Ocean air in Brazil,Nelson tanure (owner of the brazilian newspaper "Jornal do Brasil") we have a new player in the fold, none other than Constantino de oliveira who owns Gol airlines in Brazil, now that could be interesting.

well, u can say that GOL trying to buy Varig ir vice-president Alencar dream.
He would solve two problems, not terminating the company and giving to someone that could responsabli take care of the company.
Unfortunately, thats one odd thing to happen, even because Constantino denies it, and it´s way out of GOL´s league to buy a company like Varig, with it´s size etc etc.

But Glenn, it was a good post, added a new idea

ps. The PT governants doesn´t have a nice relationship with Mr.Tanure, that probably won´t happen, something to do with Military Dictatorial era in Brasil.

Hardi, long time no see, welcome back.

RG and its pax will be the most affected ones since the end of the codeshare with JJ means that RG will have to drop some destinations from its routemap. Let's see what happens. JJ will keep on growing. As for RG, things are getting more complicated.
