New AF Uniform Unveiled Today

Sat Apr 02, 2005 10:23 am

Today the new AF uniform, designed by christian lacroix. was unveiled to press (tv radio newspapers) in the Palais de tokyo, in paris. I had the opportunity to be there and all I can say is that i found it really great. the show was amazing:
1- models showing AF's uniform since 1950
2-models showing the new uniform
3- af employees showing the new uniform.
simply superb...

go to www.airfrance.net to see some photos
cheers

I'm reminded of the Mark Ronson song "Ooh Wee".

The uniforms are brilliant and incredibly stylish.

Especially the women's first officer uniform. And the first officer herself  Smile.

I suppose with Christian Lacroix designing the uniforms, who could go wrong?

The French know how to put on a show, especially when it comes to fashion.

I can't believe Christian Lacroix is going 80's retro. Epaulle "pagode" = 1980s huge padded shoulders. The current uniform is so much classier...

At least its better than what they were wearing when I worked for them... Nina Ricci designed italian table cloths for the female cabin staff, and those awful dresses the ground staff wore with AF AF AF AF AF AF AF!

Whats with the bow around the dress? They look like they are dressed up as bloody christmas presents. If I was given one of those to wear, I would refuse point blank.

Actually Alcregular, AF staff (ground and cabin crew alike) are able to pick and choose what they want to order from the various components of the uniform. The only stipulation is that certain pieces must be worn with other certain pieces, according to the uniform manual. But if someone does not like a certain piece, then they are not obligated to order it or wear it.

Or when female pilots at KLM get their own uniform...my wife looks ridiculous in hers. She and some of her friends are trying to design a new one...

What's with those horribly big bows? They look like over grown doll babies! Aside from that the uniforms are beautiful indeed! I wish my company would bring out something more stylish for me to wear! Not gonna happen though  frown

From what my wife tells me, bows, rather than belts, are the new accessory for women's suits. I've also noticed some women news anchors with this look. I kind of like it.

What we wear at KL now is French too, Nina Ricci and fine. We're not so elegant as the French ladies, our jacket hides Dutch hips very well!

The new AF uniform seems very elegant but so varied. Dark blue, light blue, skirt, pants, dress. Bow, belt, all long sleeves, big high collars, what to wear in summer?

I was worried the U.S. Air Force (AF) had come out with a new uniform and didn't tell any of us about it, I almost fell out of my seat! I just bought the Air Force Mess Dress uniform last year for about $300.

Love it. Absolutely LOVE it. I LOVE The bows. I think they are very stylish. Looks great on the winter darks and the summer grays. AF always has incredible taste in uniforms.

Mais oui!

Can't wait for my flight IAD - NCE in two weeks, assuming the uniforms will be out.

Now if only AF would apply the same sense of style to cleaning their planes....

I was going to say they were perfect, but they ruined them with those cheesy sewn on wings. Wings should be pinned and metal, not sewn on and cloth.

The new DL uniforms look much better. AF uniform is nice as well except what is that BIG RED bow or wings? Makes one like a giant Christmas package. Reminds of the Cartier building on 5th Ave in NYC during Christmas when the entire building is wrapped with a red bow!

Looks quite boring. They could have been more unique and in nicer materials. I think the suit worn by Danish Crown Princess Mary in the pic could be the perfect AFKLM uniform, in "airline" blue w slim/tight design.

Well, finally class is back in airline uniforms. And it's good that it is the French that start with this. The uniforms are really nice and the red bows - well - they kind of represent the eye-catcher all others don't have. I wish KLM will use the same uniform. Theirs is due for renewal. Dutch hips may be well hidden but all KL flight attendants look - with all due respect - like my grandmother. Time for a change KL.

the first three and last three aren't the DL uniforms, but everything in the middle is. They're quite sharp. The only one missing is the red version of the dress...

Ia Orana All !!!

Thank you very much for all the comments about our new uniform.
Quite frankly believe me when I tell you that they look STUNNING in real !
That big red bow is really nice on the uniform in real. For those with a little bit of japanese culture, it is a little like the obi of a yukata tied in front. Like someone mentionned, big fabric belts are in, they are the accessory but the what is funny is that on another website people were criticizing the cloud scarf the girls wear on their navy blue uniform.

Concerning the wings, it must be a culture thing because french crews prefer fabric and gold or silver thread for the wings. metal appeared on AF uniforms only recently.

What I have to say about this uniform is that it is a bold and classy at the same time, it has flair and chic while trendy and dynamic. Our customers have extremely nice comments about our new image !

Happy Flying and Thank You Monsieur Lacroix for this fantastic show of french elegance !

I have to say I really don't like the new uniforms. The current ones are among the classier ones today but the new ones are just to "modern" for me.
