Cape Air *practically* owns ACK, MVY, and PVC in terms of the only airline flying there...ACK has a few choices but the main airline is 9K.

Also, Delta now owns Terminal A in BOS. Nothing but them.

Although NW played a major part in the design of DTW terminal, it is still owned by Wayne County.

I believe it is the same in MSP & MEM.

EUjet operates from Manston (Kent Int'l) which is owned by Planestation (owners of EUjet). They are the only pax operators.

AF/LH/JL new terminal @ JFK

Not sure about this one, but LAX Terminal 2 owned by a AC/NW third party company.

NWA wants to take over the Lindbergh terminal at MSP. They want everyone else to move to the Humphrey terminal. It hasn't happened yet, but give it time.

SQ does not own the terminal. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore owns it.

Don't forget Keflavik: Icelandair sort of has a lock on it....
Salisbury, MD is Piedmont country......

While neither own the terminals, they sort of are exclusive use facilities.

....... and soon, Southwest will own and operate BWI  Wink

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Hawaiian Airlines built the airport at Kapalua specifically for thier Dash-8 operations in the 80's. They have since sold it to the state of Hawaii.

I think in the US the days of airlines owning thier own terminals are almost over. Too many airports have been burned by mergers and bankruptcies. Most airports are also rethinking the longterm lease on gates as well.

At almost any hub, an airline will have complete control over at least one terminal, if not more than one. For example, CO has all of C in EWR (and five gates in A), B, C, part of D, and E in IAH, and C and D in CLE. Often times, a hub airline will spend great sums of money to improve or build terminals, so they often end up very close to the airport authority - for example, I know that CO has a lot of clout with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey that runs EWR because they paid to build C-3 and have almost half of all the traffic at EWR.

It is leased by a third party company, all of LAX is owned by LAWA, a company wholly owned by the City of Los Angeles

They want to lease the whole thing from the city, forcing other carriers into Humphrey. The city would still own it.

I can think of two cases here. Aeropelican own their own airport at Belmont, south of Newcastle, NSW. They fly in and out with DH(C)-6s. Hazelton Airlines had their own airport (for at least 25 years) at the town of Cudal, near Orange, NSW. After Hazelton was folded into Regional Express, they shut down the maintenance operation there a couple of years ago and moved out. I believe Hazelton Ag. Services still operates the airport, but of course that isn't an airline.

CO at EWR is a perfect example. With Terminal C and gates on A.

CO also runs IAH terminals, B, C, Gates D1-3 with rights to D4-D12, Terminal E.

Delta at JFK and LGA.

WN at Love Field.

Ireland also has an airport, built by, and owned by an airline.

Even more amazing, it is for the handling of BN Islander services only, to the Aran Islands, and the airline is Aer Arann, more correctly its holding company.

Several years back they had a row with Galway Airport, built their own small field much closer to the Aran Islands on the other side of Galway, and moved their flights to /from the three Aran Islands to this field. Galway is the only city in the Irish Republic with two airports, offering commercial service, even though both are tiny by international standards.

Aer Arann serve both "Galway Airports" now, since returning to the other with ATR 42 & 72 services to Dublin.

Alaska Airlines built and owns the terminal facilities at many of the stations it services in the state of Alaska.

Lufthansa essentially owns Terminal 2 at MUC. AFAIK, the costs were distributed 50/50 among airline and airport, and now LH and partners have exclusive use of that terminal.

Avianca built and now operates the puente aereo terminal in Bogota, for AV operated domestic flights. SAM operated flights arrive and depart from the main domestic concourse and AV international flights also arrive and depart at the international concourse.

Hi

BA kind of has their own terminal at MAN but it is shared with oneworld members and domestic services! Isn't LHR's T5 going to be mostly BA as well?

Would be good if say, easyJet had their own terminal  Smile

dallas love field would most likely shut down if wn left. continental only has a few gates while southwest's gates occupy 95% of the airport.

AF/LH/JL new terminal @ JFK

Don't forget KE!

At JFK, DL runs T2&3, B6 runs T6, BA runs T7, AA runs T8&9. I doubt they actually own the buildings; probably have longterm leases.

LHR's T5 is being built by BAA, but BA, along with QF, with have exclusive use of the Terminal, a move that will enable BA to consolidate all it's LHR operations into a single terminal. T4 was designed much the same way for use by BA, though KL have also operated from there (Since opening I believe). Latterly, KM, KQ, OZ, QF and UL also use T4.

LGW's North Terminal is similarly owned by BAA and largely used by BA, though not to the extent it was in the late 1990s when BA and it's franchises served more destinations from LGW than LHR, with a significant longhaul presence too. DL and DP have been longterm residents at the North Terminal with BA for sometime now, with other carriers moving in over the past couple of years, mainly due to BA reducing its LGW operations.

JFK's T7 is largely used by BA, though CX and QF also use it. UA have some gates there, a legacy I think from when BA wanted to acquire UA in the early 1990s and the two were co-operating.

MAN's T3 is largely a pirpose built extension of the Domestic terminal, with BA using the vast majority of the terminal. Domestic check-in for other carriers is almost tucked away and the gates used are those between T3 and T1 (Underneath T1's eating areas). AA's MAN-ORD flight also uses T3.

You are corrrect. I visited Wilmington for a night shift once as part of an Air Force logistics management course. Airborne Express bought the airport at Wilmington many years ago. It was an old Air Force base. ABX turns approx 100 acft each night from 12:00 am to around 4:00 am....processes approx 1 million packages a night. Quite an operation....truly logistics in action!
