Anyone Desiring To Be An Airline CEO?

Wed Apr 06, 2005 4:52 pm

To whom it may concern:
Finnair is looking for a new CEO as Mr Suila is using his retirement option at 60. Ms Leena Luhtanen, the Finnish cabinet minister responsible for the recruitment, has issued a statement to the effect that anyone regardless of nationality is eligible to apply. So if you want to improve a medium-sized air transportation business with some standing (no creditors' plan in sight), here's your chance of the lifetime. Please email leena.luhtanen@eduskunta.fi

If I'm going to be the new CEO of Finnair, I will introduce sauna on intercontinental Finnair flights.  Smile

No, seriously I don't feel like I am qualified for such a big airline. But I have considered making a small airline here in Denmark, flying between CPH and Aarhus harbor. Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark and Copenhagen is the capitol.
A serious problem was that I would have to build a small airport in the harbor area. The price could get up close to 10M $ for the airport. But being only few minutes away from Downtown Aarhus. The current airport is far away. The planes would be turboprops departing with a high frequence between the two airports.
Such a project would be a very big challenge, but I'm a little bit crazy in my own way.

Returning to Finnair:
What kind of personal profile will a new Finnair CEO need to have?
Does it have to be a person from Finland?

Maybe we should recommend one of our resident 14 year old aviation experts?
