Emirates starting a YYZ
service is highly contingent on getting rights for a daily service. EK
have indicated they can start a 3-4x initially but want reassurance they can increase the service to a daily within 6 months. From what i understand talks were held a month or so ago with Canadian govt. officials to get approval for this daily service.
Another issue is aircraft availability - not much available time left on the A340-500s at the moment. That is unless they take the A345 off the planned 2nd daily PER
service (Oct.) and re-allocate acft to a potential YYZ
. Then 2nd PER
PER may get another type eg. B777-300ER, B777-200ER or A340-300.
