United ORD-MUC Question

Fri Apr 08, 2005 8:48 pm

United Airlines flies already daily Washington Dulles/Munich in codeshare with Star Alliance partner Lufthansa.

Effective June 7, 2005, United will launch new service between Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and Munich, Germany.

What type of aircraft will be flown on this route? Does LH already Have a Flight ORD-MUC?

My guess would be a 767-300. I don't see them start a route like this with a 777.

LH now has a daily flight MUC/ORD on 343 with 11.15AM departure from MUC and 4.40PM departure out of ORD
UA will be flying 763 with 5.50PM departure from ORD and 3.20PM departure from MUC.

You´re right. It is now operated by a 777 and will switch to a 763 in the summer.

UA's MUC flight from IAD was a 767 all of last summer into early fall when it was upgraded to a 777 for the winter (they changed right after I went to MUC on the 76 for Oktoberfest). I am pretty sure it will remain a 777 until the ORD-MUC flight begins when it will again become a 767. I would have to check Apollo at work before I can be positive.
What do I know? I just fly 'em.......

I am sure UA germany is happy to have a new extra flight to ORD on behalf of the cargo. They earn lot of money on the germany-ord sector...
