Airbus Outpaces Boeing 1st Quarter.

Sat Apr 09, 2005 5:51 am

Airbus delivered 87 comm. a/c during the 1st quarter, beating Boeing, delivering 70 a/c in the same period.

Way to go Airbus(ter)  bigthumbsup

This is old news. Its well known that Airbus will outpace boeing for the next year at least in terms of delivery... but with boeing on pace to have an excellent year(s) order wise that could change relatively soon (2-5 years). Its still pretty early in 2005 to predict that Boeing will outsell airbus (previous thread topic though).

All in all not a very insightful thread and hopefully it wont result in an unpleasant A v. B mess.

Not much of an achievement, but a reflection of victories 6-24 months ago. Airplanes aren't pizza: you don't order an airplane and have it delivered in the same quarter.

No, they didn't either. The major 787 orders (more than 100) were announced in Q1-2005, but will not be signed until later this year.

What was their total financial contribution and sales profit? That's the number that really matters.

Honestly these "we sold more than you" posts are silly and serve no purpose except to offer a number that can be misleading.

Not very informative and essential an "Airbus vs. Boeing" thread. Give us some real interesting numbers so we can discuss them intelligently.

Nice analogy

How far in the future does it look like Airbus will outpace Boeing in deliveries? It looks as if the 787 will help them greatly but thats still a several years off when it comes to effecting actual deliveries. Does it look like Airbus is continuing to oupace Boeing in orders for planes that are actually rdy to be produced(not the 350/787) or is Boeing looking like they can beat them on that front with strong sales of the 777/737 in the next couple of years?

Er, no. Airbus lists 123 sales in 1st quarter, while Boeing lists 63.

Quoting AC787 (Reply 8):

As at end March, Airbus' backlog is 1531 while Boeing's is 1073. So it looks like Airbus has quite a bit of potential to out deliver Boeing for a few years yet. I think sales this year will be interestingly close.

Solnabo I have read many of your postings, and I can see that you are very excited about Airbus, and so you should be, but many of your posts are written in a way that COULD be misunderstood as bashing Boing, remember, even though you are winning you can always treat the defeated in a proper tone and manor.

I am not saying Boeing is defeated, far from, but that just seems to be your assesment on the industry.

I love planes, but personally Boeing is more appealing, Airbus has it's charm no doubt, but when it comes down to aesthetics Boeing comes in first, on my chart.

Solnabo deliveries can date back 10 years or more, or less, Boeing has regained the order race for the 1 quarter, don't take that away from some of us  Smile

Solnabo now I have been reading your posts for over a year, and I am so tired of the way you are bashing Boeing all the time. Is it just because it is an American company or what? Because if it is, then keep your anti-American thoughts to yourself.
Personally I like Boeing planes more than Airbus planes.
I just think Boeing planes look better than Airbus planes, but I don't start bashing Airbus because of that. Why don't you just grow up?

Solnabo,
ofcourse you can write what you feel about both companies, but be careful not to take it to extremes because then it is guaranteed that you will offend some people, and start another useless A vs B war.

I am wondering why airlines still buy B products??? I think all B 717 , B737, B747 are products who are getting into age.. The only two plane types witch are younger are the B 777 and of course the B 787 but this one are still not existing.. The A products are in my sense as a costumer are much more quiter and safer.. Ive you look into the cokpit you see in the a products modern cokpits and in the b produkts old stile..For my oppinion Airbus must have 3/4 of the market not only 50% + .

As you´re pretty new here you most probably aren´t aware that you just involuntarily made a rather clumsy attempt to start what is called an A vs. B war. Furthermore, the points you made are rather debatable and your post does not contain a single piece of evidence (Airbus products safer than Boeing products...come on, this is provocative nonsense and you know it).
I´m not going to dwell on the rest of your post in detail as you´re going to get enough (well deserved) flaming for that anyway.
