Did You Ever Notice?

Sun Apr 09, 2000 5:17 am

Did you ever notice on this forum that no one ever compliments color schemes, they just rip on them? I really would like to hear some positive comments about color schemes in the future. If you think what the managers of airlines come up with is not good enough, how about coming up with some ideas for a new livery for the airline, and post it up on the forum. This happens occasionally, but not often enough. If you don't like a livery, share some ideas to make it better. Example:
I don't particularly like AA's scheme. I think the airline should have an eagle swooping down on the tail towards the fuselage. And some softer cheatlines with a better looking American on the front. The baremetal definitely can stay!

While I don't necessarily disagree with what you said, there have been numerous times this topic has come up in one form or another. As a well known critic in this forum who has drawn the ire of many, sometimes to the point of where I could make even the most mellow and sedated individual want to make an attempt on my life, let me take a moment ad tell you some liveries that I think are (or were) great:

Continental (old and new)
America West (old and new)
Muse Air
Frontier (mkII)
Western Pacific
Reno Air
National (new)
Sunworld (both)
USAir (old+final)

Saudi Arabian
BWIA (Old)
British (old)
Varig (new)
LanChile (new)
Air Tahiti Nui
British Midland

Hi AA737-800, here are the ones I like:

Air New Zealand (old & new)
British Airways (old & new...surprise, surprise)
Cathay Pacific (old and new)
Qantas (although I could imagine a pretty cool new one)
SAS (the new one...very good looking, will be great on the A340)
South African Airways
El Al (the new one beeing just a little bit nicer than the old scheme)
Aer Lingus
China Southern
Canadian Airlines (the new one is just great! Unfortunately gone soon, though...)

That's all I can imagine right now.

No one has mentioned Sri Lankan's new livery. I must say I think it is the most beautiful one out there at the moment. Very modern but with very fluid lines and the colors are magnificent!!!! I think all the American carriers are boring. No excitement in there liveries. Any comments????

In my opinion it's the new America West paint scheme, here's why. The livery could go perfectly on any airplane, picture an A340 or at the opposite end of the spectrum an old DC-9-10 series. Here's a perfect example.....A 1969 737-112

I have to say that Saudi has one of the best schemes around. Not boring, yet still professional. Also nice are:

Kuwait Airways
Cathay (New and Old)..and I'm not saying that 'cos I have to!
Some of BA's World Tails.
El Al new colours.
ACES Columbia
Air Tahiti Nui.

There are more, but these are the main ones.
