Air Madrid Inflight Service

Tue Apr 12, 2005 6:07 am

Hi there Smile

I have been looking at Air Madrid's webpage and it appears that inflight meals are not included in economy class. Terrible.

How do you book meals?? onboard or when you book you ticket?? Anyone with experience??

Not another one! How the hell can they not serve you a meal on flights from Spain to South America????????

Just checked their website and they are indeed charging you for meals on a long-haul flight. I use the word 'meal' loosley as it looks like what you can buy is a snack comprising sandwiches and Oreos!

Air Madrid make IB long-haul economy look like the height of luxury!

Hi

you're right Avianca. In a so cheap flight you cannot expect any meals and any special service. If you think you will be hungry and want to drink something in so a long flight, then please go to your usual supermarket buy what you want and find better and make you a super sandwich or sandwiches with a cola or water and that's it. You will see it's very cheap also. I made something like this in a flight of AR from Madrid to Bs As, although there were meals but they are terrible and it was great.

Cheers

Those prices are indeed very cheap. Even so, I will go to the Caribbean from Amsterdam with KLM for 490 euro (incl. tax and other charges), including two meals and drinks and they're a mainline airline. So Air Madrid does offer cheap tickets with no meals but there are full service airlines that offer almost similarly low prices including meals on long-haul flights such as my ticket (AMS-CUR). In my case my ticket is valid for one month.

Back to the topic, I'm curious as to how the in-flight service is of Air Madrid. They do operate a fantastic aircraft, the A330-200 Big grin

of course you will find also cheap tickets on mainline airlines, but Air Madrid tickets are much more flexible, you can book very cheap one way tickets etc etc etc.,

A meal between SJO and MAD will cost you around US$20,00. Many decide to brought their own one.

Thank you for the comment Avianca. Just to make it clear I'm not trying to criticize the pricing of Air Madrid or anything. I think it's great they offer low prices and that they're a flexible, that's always a good thing Big grin I was only giving an example of other cheap options.

How is Air Madrid doing by the way, financially speaking? Air Europa will start their first long-haul flights soon with their first A340-200, right? Will Air Europa compete directly with Air Madrid? Air Madrid will also receive their first A340-300 right? Will those be new or leased aircraft? Can we see a A350 order coming from Air Madrid in the (near) future?

Saludos,

didn´t fligh Air Euorpe other routes than NM? like the new ones to China, or the current Venezuela flights. I think AirPlus will compete more with NM special on the BOG and LIM run. AirPlus seems to be a good option as they offer more than only 20kgs free bagage in Eco. I think they offer 40 kgs if I am not wrong.
