What Does "klm" Stand For?

Tue Apr 12, 2005 8:59 am

I know that KLM is Royal Dutch Airlines, but what do the letters "KLM" actually stand for? Is it something in Dutch?
Just curious. Jr asked and I didn't have an answer?

Thanks in advance.

Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij is what it means...I'm sure it means Royal Dutch Airlines, but I may be wrong.

Check this thread:
What Does KLM Stand For? (by USAir330 Mar 31 2003 in Civil Aviation)

According to the dutchman in reply 7, it stands for Koninklijke Luchtvaartmaatschappij, which translates to Royal Air Company. There's even a lesson in dutch pronunciation in there for you.  Smile
