ERJ Experiences

Mon Apr 10, 2000 2:33 pm

For those of you who have flown aboard any ERJ (145 or 135), how did you like that aircraft comfort wise?

I'm mainly interested to know how you found the seat width (which on these planes does not vary with operator), as well as the headroom while standing in the aisles.

Any other positive/negative comments about this plane?

Thanks much!

Hello there, FLY777UAL!

I've been on American Eagle's ERJ-145's a number of times between ORD and CLE, also to/from CVG. I have always liked them as its the closest I've ever come to flying aboard a bizjet.

I'm lucky I'm only 5' 9" tall so I can stand up in the aisle with no problem but it's close! I find the seats comfortable enough but they are narrow...seemingly narrower than those on an MD-80 or 727.

One thing I do not like is sitting at any window (even though they're large and offer a good view) because you're very close to the sidewall and it curves rather sharply into the floor. So, if you're in an "A" seat, your left foot has little space; if you're in the "C" seats, it's a problem for your right foot (at least I find it so). So, I always try for the "B" seats. That's really my only gripe about the "jungle jet" and, I have to say, I like it much better than the CRJ which I have flown on with Comair.

I will say that on one flight from ORD to CLE we navigated around some huge thunderheads and it was obvious that maneuvering the ERJ-145 was a dream compared to a larger aircraft. What response to the control surfaces! Bet it's a blast to pilot one of them.

Have you flown on the ERJ-145 or -135? Care to share your impressions?

I found it to be the most exciting airplane I've ever flown on, airline or corporate! I've flown on almost all models of the Learjet, a Hawker and a Gulfsteam IISP and found that sitting on the single seat side of the Embraer 145 was more amazing, maybe because of the fact it felt like a bizjet and was in passenger service and loaded through the jetway. It seems like the pilots were just as enthused by the airplane and cockpit as I was! -Ryan

i agree with is the most exciting jet i have been on..i have mentioned b4 about the climb out thru P.M. convective build-up was most impressive..only a little lite chop..the windows are positoned perfectly for viewing as oppose to the Canadair...I am 6ft 3in. so the cabin height is not impressive, but once seated i have been most comfortable and i have sat in all thre seats across(not at once). We will continue to see lots mors flights with these little gems

I really enjoy flying on the Embraer. I have taken several flights on the -145 between O'Hare and Indianapolis, and I find the plane to be very comfortable. As others have said, the bg windows are great for viewing. I am 6'1", and just barely fit in the aisle. Once seated, however, I find the plane to be very comfortable.

I flew with Continental Express, from Newark(EWR)-Montreal(YUL). It was a ERJ-145, I like the airplane alot the one problem is that the ceiling is too low, but otherwise it is great airplane!!!!

I flew this plane between IND and ORD, on AAExpress ERJ-145. Was a nice flight.
I would definetley choose an A or B seat, on the C, there is a problem of legroom (and no room for luggage under the seat).
Otherwise, the ride was really nice.
I like this little plane.

Go IU!

My one and only ERJ experience was with American Eagle -145 (N616AE)
from Dallas Love (DAL) to Houston Hobby (HOU).

Hearing all the positive comments about the ERJ on the forum made me want to try one ASAP...and I was not disappointed. Very sleek from the outside. Inside pretty roomy cabin for an aircraft its size. Comfortable seats. Quiet yet powerful. Windows much bigger and better positioned than on the CRJ. And the "A" seat being both a window and an aisle simply can't be beat.

I recommend you try one if you haven't already. Really a joy to fly in. Too bad it was such a short flight (~40 min.)

definately the most fun jet i've ever flown on. i thought it would be hard to top the feeling you get aboard a Gulfstream 2 during the takeoff roll, well the ERJ-145 topped it. contrary to what i'd read in the past, it is NOT uncomfortable or have too little stand-up head room. it's pretty, comfortable and it's performance is outstanding. if your like me and enjoy that 30 seconds of bliss while travelling down the rwy. towards "V1, rotate" well go fly on this jet!
