SkyTanking

Mon Apr 18, 2005 8:42 am

Can someone who is faimilar with the company Skytanking please answer a couple of my questions?? I came home from Philadelphia the other day and noticed that Skytanking was doing the fueling in PHL, last time I was there it was ASIG, so I assumed that ASIG lost the contracts there and Skytanking took over. Then I went to Skytanking's website and noticed that they use ASIG's logo , so what I wondering is this another company that ASIG bought or did Skytanking buy ASIG?? Is Skytanking a new company competition for ASIG and Swissport and companies like that??? I'm not familar with this company so I thought I would as the experts out there.

Thank you all for your help.

Skytanking has been operating at PHL since last year, for BA and WN. They have been progressively taking over ASIGs into-plane contracts (and equipment) for the past few months. From what I know, ASIG is servicing only one carrier at PHL now (US Airways) although I don't know if they will continue to do so or simply leave the airport. They operated as a monopoly at PHL for so long (bad equipment, poor service, etc) that everyone was happy to have an alternative. Although SkyTanking is definitely better, in the end they could end up another ASIG (let's hope not).

I guess what it sounds like is that they are a separate company from ASIG. I wonder why they use the same logo if they are the compitetion?? Well If you get crappy service then the competition moves in and runs you out of town.
