How Much Would Concorde Cost Now?

Mon Apr 18, 2005 2:14 pm

I remember reading somewhere that the last Concorde built in 1980 for BA (I think) sold for US$500 million!

Considering inflation and let us assume for the sake of argument that Concorde did not retire, how much now?

I've heard or read somewhere the figure of 20 billion GBP (in today's pounds) as the total cost of the development of Concorde.

Slightly off topic, (sorry) but what of the fuel costs for a round trip from JKF to CDG?  wideeyed
May the A380 arrive @ MCO in the near future.

In today's money, the costs would easily be doubled. With research and production the price would soar to at least 2 GBP as opposed to the original 1 GBP originally paid for the aircraft in the 70's  Smile

The first published price of a Concorde was based on a forecast of a sale of 200 a/c. It was $ 10 Millions in 1963.

After 10 years, this price raised to $ 38 Millions, then to $70 Million in 1976.

The price for 1 Concorde was estimated at € 225 Million ($ 292 Millions ) with the Economy conditions of 2002, which is about the price of an A380.
