Problem On Lufthansa's Livery

Tue Apr 19, 2005 4:25 pm

Last week while spotting, I realised how assymetrical the grey on the LH fuselage is ....Its much higher behind the wing. I dunno why there's just somwething that bothers me with it...why can't they bother do it symmetrical? At first I thought the one aircraft I saw had a mistake but looking at the database I realised its just about all of them that has the assymetry

The reason is with the system of their aircraft paint look.
If you notice on most of their a/c types, the grey area is everything below the Wing (leading and trailing edges) therefore the top of the wings are white and the bottom is grey. The horizontal tailplane is also white because it's above the wing area.

Yes I do agree it looks a bit too asymmetrical on this particular A/C.

HAHAHA, that's kinda wierd. But don't you mean that the grey on the very bottom is much higher in FRONT of the wing and not behind? Wink

Regardless of the difference in lines - it's one of the most boring and dull paints in civil aviation...

They painted an A 320 in vintage paint which looked much better !

Time they re-think their appearance and give their aircaraft a more attractive appeal !

It is not a "problem" at all, but just the effect of the different height levels of leading and trailing edges, which serve as the orientation points for the border between the white and grey body parts.

I have to agree with ACDC8. Now I get seriously annoyed with the LH C/S... goddammit! Every time I see a LH A/C now I'm gonna be annoyed!

Thanks alot!

Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.

I would say timeless, cheap and economical. Its 12 years old now and has outlived more than one C/S of e.g. Delta (whose C/S is also quite cool now) or United. They changed their scheme although being in serious economical trouble. Why?

Yeah but they should at least paint the belly gray to make it look like the other aircraft.

Or flop it around and paint it opposite of the rest of the fleet just to keep us on our toes.  cheeky

why can't they bother do it symmetrical?

Why does it have to be symmetrical? Is symmetry the only style that's acceptable these days? Whatever happened to original thinking?
