Flash! Attention,all Round Engine Spotters

Tue Apr 19, 2005 10:36 pm

An Atl-98 Carvair, basically a DC-4, with a Dc-7 tail and a 747 nose just roared over my house climbing out of PTK (Pontiac,Mi.) heading south, probably down Tejas way. Great to see that old iron still flying and earning its keep, not just at airshows.
the rumble of round engines is like music to me,likewise the thunder of thr JT8D

sweet.. thanks! maybe some of the guys who get info about the ferry flights can track where it's going. Was it that one with a girl painted on it's nose, sorta Virgin Atlantic style?

I saw that one in OPF like 6 years ago, I should've gotten a pic grrr  Smile

Yep, thats the one, based out of Texas these days, it was lovely thing to stand outside coffee in me hand, and let the rumble roar of 4 r-2000s in sync wash over me, that sweet shape slowly climbing out at about 1000 agl. I LOVE ROUND ENGINES!!!!!!AND DOUGLAS PROPLINERS!!!!
